Plan a Wine-Themed Bridal Shower

estate.jpgIf your groom associates grape clusters with togas, and his idea of a wine night is a Tour De Franzia with his buddies, it's time for some wine time with the ladies. A wine-themed bridal shower has many benefits because wine tasting is an elegant pastime that also allows you to get sopping drunk. Also, you have the bridal advantage so you and your maids will surely be treated to some gratis grappa along the way.
Whether you and the bridesmaid belles are traipsing off to Napa for a bridal shower getaway, taking a winery tour, or just wine tasting at home, there are plenty of ways to channel some vineyard vogue into your bridal shower.
What are you waiting for? Here's how to plan a fabulous wine-themed bridal shower, resulting in a fabulous Chardonnay-laced memory that will only get better with age-and constant recounting at brunch reunions to come.

Personalized-Red-Wine-Pub-Sign-.jpgTo start, you need to stock up fabulous swag to reflect the theme. This vintage wine sign is a perfect personalized token to invoke the vineyard-for-a-day feel. Grape clusters, elegant wine glasses, and assorted cheeses are all other great ways to usher your girls into a vintner wonderland.

rosebushes.jpgSet the scene: To throw your own wine tasting in your background, you could opt for tasting stations. Use card tables draped in linen and topped with a single fresh-cut rose (a nod to Napa) to create an economically elegant effect, and set up each table with a different type of wine and a little explanatory placecard. You and your ladies can mix and mingle as you stroll from tasting to tasting. At the end, you can do trivia to see who remembers the most about each wine. Or, you could hold a blindfolded taste test to see who can correctly identify the wines you've just sampled. Winner gets a prize! Last but not least, pass around a bottle of wine and take turns coming up with the longest, most elaborate pretentious description i.e. (A waft of caramel sailing on a blanket of clover, with just a wisp of honeydew).

Once people are staggering around the yard in an impromptu grapevine move, it's time to break out the tunes. Luckily WeddingStand put together a grand mix for you and your girls to groove to. Check it out:

Winepersonalized-white-wine-.jpgIf you want to really wow your party guests, give them a bottle of personalized wine, with a sweet (we mean, blueberry toast drenched with honey laced in cinnamon) name like "Bouquet Tosser," "Garter Peek-a-Boo" or "Merry Maids Merlot" as a wedding shower favor or bridesmaid gifts. They will love it so much they will not even want to uncork it. Ok, they will, but they can always re-use the posh bottle later as a clever veil for their 3-buck chuck. Genius!
