Three Tips for a Tasty Wedding Cake

Ensure your wedding cake is as spectacular as the ceremony

The wedding cake is more than just a delicious finale to your ceremony and reception. That's why proper planning when booking and having your cake assembled can be the difference between an amazing wedding and a disappointing one. Don't fret, though. Here are three tips to remember while you make your cake plans:

  • Book your baker in advance: Decide on your baker and book her long in advance. Good bakers are often fully booked months ahead, particularly in the spring and summer months. For a cake that suits your tastes and is as fabulous as you, find a baker you like and book them as far ahead of time as is feasible.

  • Be specific! Make sure you have everything you want in your cake down in writing. This will ensure your baker misses no detail. Look out for unclear wording. For example, if you want a five layer cake on your wedding day, make sure this is understood between you and your baker. If it is written down in specific terms - your baker won't forget the important design details.

  • Ensure the delivery: Some bakers make add the delivery costs with your cake fee, others charge extra, and others still don't deliver their cakes period. Make sure you know your baker's delivery policy before your wedding day. That way you're not scrambling to find someone to deliver your cake at the last minute or find yourself blindsided by additional delivery costs at the last minute.

There's no question that the wedding cake is incredibly important to any wedding. By following the three tips above you'll be on your way to an amazing wedding cake in no time.
